Coding frame development
The data processing manager will work together with coding clerk to develop the coding frames under the guidance of the project manager. This process requires that we pick a random sample of at least 10% responses and use it to compile the coding list. Once the coding frame is developed, the team to be used in coding is trained by the research executive, who also supervises the coding process until all the questionnaires are fully coded.
Data capture
After the coding process, the questionnaires will be handed over to data capture clerks for data entry. All received questionnaires will be labeled by giving a unique serial number to each questionnaire. The information is then recorded into a register. Data entry will be done using Microsoft Excel. Danixon has over 10 well-trained and experienced data entry clerks. 20% of the data entered will be checked manually for accuracy and consistency. This is done at set intervals such that after every x number of questionnaires, certain number has to be rechecked physically. Preliminary statistical checks will be carried out especially on measures of central tendency.
Data cleaning
The project statistician will oversee data cleaning. At the preliminary phase, the project statistician will develop the tabulation and data processing plan using the questionnaire. After data entry, the final data in Excel will be exported to Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS) which is compatible with much other analysis software. The Data Processes executive with lead of a statistician will label the data to reflect questions in the questionnaire. They will also do data quality checks on skip routines, missing values, filters, demographic quotas achieved.
Data submission
Data will be provided in SPSS which is widely used and is compatible with other statistical packages. Tabulation in excel will be provided for review. Data can be converted from SPSS to other different software’s namely ASCII, STATA, SAS or Excel as per the client request
